Chapter 11: Welsing Goggles

“Ron! Why did you say that to her?” asked Harry, glaring at Ron.

"What?” said Ron, looking quite bemused, “I only made a small joke!”

Harry stood there, arms folded, and glowered at Ron, who finally muttered, “Alright, I'll apologize.”

Before Harry could follow Ron out of the room, Jeremy spoke, “Hey, I forgot to give you my present, Harry!”

Harry turned around and stared at Jeremy, “You too?”

Jeremy nodded and said, “Why wouldn't I give a present to my brother?”

Harry raised his eyebrows as Jeremy gave him a small, wrapped box. As Harry opened it, a bright light struck his eyes. He covered his eyes to block the light, but the next moment, it was gone.

“What was that?” asked Harry, loudly.

Jeremy smiled, “Those are the Welsing Goggles.”

Harry stared at Jeremy and said, “The what--?”

Jeremy rolled his eyes, but his smile didn’t falter, as he replied, “These goggles will help you see in the Blue Light.”

Harry said, “I have no clue what you are talking, Jeremy. What Blue Light?”

Jeremy laughed and replied, “It’s just a special light. A friend of mine gave these goggles to me a few years ago, but I still haven’t figured out how to use them. So, I figured I might give them to you, Harry. Your need is more than mine.”

Jeremy winked and left. Harry stood there, looking at the goggles with interest. Harry felt that these goggles might have some hidden uses. After putting them on, they just seemed to be normal goggles. He had a feeling that Jeremy pulled a joke on him.

Harry walked out of the room, towards the staircase. As he ascended the steps, he suddenly remembered that he totally forgot that Ginny was still downstairs as well, and she, surely, would have something to give to him. As he turned around to go back, Ron’s voice could be heard from inside Hermione’s room, “Serves you right!

Harry hastily opened the door to see Ron and Hermione glaring at each other.

“What the--?” asked Harry, but Ron interrupted, “It’s none of your business, Harry! Leave now!”

Harry could think of nothing to say and quickly closed the door. As Harry turned around, he saw Ginny standing there, looking confused.

“What’s going on in there?” asked Ginny, looking confused.

Harry shrugged his shoulders and mumbled, “Nothing.”

Ginny stared at Harry and said, “I know there’s something going on.”

She moved swiftly past Harry and got to the door. As she opened the door, Harry gaped at the sight. Ron and Hermione were glued to each other and were completely unaware of the visitors.

Harry mumbled, “But, just a moment a go, I thought--”

Ginny smirked at Harry, “Were you trying to hide this from me?”

“No, they were shouting earlier, I swear,” stuttered Harry.

Ginny shook her head, grinned, and said, “That doesn’t seem like shouting to me.”

Harry replied, “Yeah, I might need to use the Welsing Goggles from now on to have a clearer view.”
