Chapter 16: The Chosen Seeker

Harry looked around the hall. The voice had come out of a shadowy corner. As soon as Harry started to move towards it, he heard a woman calling out, “Stop! Potter, don’t take another step!”

As soon as Harry tried to whip out his wand, the voice added, “And don’t try to act smart.”

Harry turned and gulped: Narcissa Malfoy was standing with an evil smirk. Suddenly, he heard someone clap loudly: it was Lucius Malfoy.

“Well done, Potter,” said Lucius, sneeringly, “I knew you would be stupid enough to come here. I always wanted to meet you again after our last encounter with the Dark Lord.”

Lucius slowly took out his wand and raised it. Harry thought he was about to attack, but Lucius gave it a couple of flicks. The lights in the room turned on simultaneously: the room brightened up dramatically. As a result, the shadowy corner came into view.

The person who had whispered to Harry stepped forward: it was Draco Malfoy, Harry’s old classman. Harry glanced at Draco, who looked like he wanted to say something.

Lucius Malfoy spoke, “Ah, Draco, what were you doing? Trying to pounce on Potter when he arrived? I know you would love to have the honors of killing him, but lately, you have not been very useful.”

Harry thought Draco would retort back, but he simply drooped his shoulders and mumbled, “Yes, father.”

Lucius turned to face Harry. There was victory lingering in his eyes. Harry began to wonder where Kreacher was being kept or what had they done to him. Suddenly, there was a loud crack: Kreacher appeared right in front of Harry. He squealed loudly, “You shall not harm Harry Potter!”

Lucius cackled, saying, “You stupid ugly elf! Get out of my way!”

Kreacher, folding his arms, glared at Malfoy with his large, protuberant eyes. “Get out of the way, Kreacher,” said Harry.

Lucius laughed and said, “Don’t you see, you idiot elf? Even your master is commanding you to get out of his way! Why won’t you listen to your dear master? Or do you want him to give you a smelly sock?”

“Get out of my way!” yelled Lucius.

“No!” replied Kreacher, loudly.

“I will not warn you again: get out of my way!”

“No! You shall not harm Harry Potter!”

Lucius pointed his wand at Kreacher and yelled, “Avada Kedavra!”

Kreacher immediately deflected the spell from Harry and himself. The spell, however, was aimed directly at Narcissa Malfoy. Direct hit.

“No! Potter!” roared Lucius, who pointed his wand at Harry, “Avada Kedav--”

Before Lucius could complete the spell, Draco yelled, “Dad, you can’t kill him! He’s the Chosen Seeker!”
