Chapter Seven

When Michelle and Shannon woke up at 9:00 A.M., they got dressed in their daytime clothes and ate breakfast. After they completed the morning routine, Michelle asked Lisa a question.

“Mom, can Shannon and I go to Heather’s house?” asked Michelle.

“Sure, just be home by 3:00,” answered Lisa.

Michelle and Shannon walked to Heather’s house, which only took five minutes. As soon as they entered the entrance gate, they knocked on the door. Heather, of course, opened the door.

“Oh, it’s you. Did you come here to drop off my clothes that you borrowed from me?” asked Heather.

“No, we came to give you one last chance to admit that I am telling the truth. I even have Shannon as a witness to the discovery of the ghost in my backyard,” replied Michelle.

“It’s true,” said Shannon, “There is a ghost in her backyard!”

“Then why didn’t I see this ghost when I was over your house last time?” asked Heather.

“I don’t know! Maybe he doesn’t like the sunlight,” replied Michelle.

“Well, I guess I could sleepover your house tonight to know for sure that you are completely telling the truth. Would that be okay with your parents?” said Heather.

“Sure, it would, but it might not be cool with your parents. Aren’t you still in trouble for the water balloon mishap?” said Michelle.

“Oh, yeah, right! Well, maybe I could sneak out of the house at around 9:30, and you guys could meet me in your backyard. Would that be okay?” asked Heather, again.

“Sure, so we’ll meet you at around 9:30, right?” answered Michelle.

“Right, see yeah!” said Heather.

“See yeah later!” replied Shannon and Michelle, in comparison.

When Michelle and Shannon got home, they thought about watching Pirates of the Caribbean: the Curse of the Black Pearl, so they put the DVD into the DVD player and began to watch it for a couple of hours. Even through all the sword fights, ship battles, and pirate marooning, they could still remember the event that the night would bring. As soon as the movie ended, Michelle said, “Isn’t that a great movie! I especially like Orlando Bloom.”

“I thought you liked someone from Simple Plan?” asked Shannon.

“Yeah, well, I like both of them!” answered Michelle, “And what about you? Don’t you like someone from the movie?”

“Yeah, I do! It’s Johnny Depp! He may be old, but he looks like he is twenty-five,” replied Shannon.

“Who likes Johnny Depp?” asked Jennifer, as she walked into the room.

“I do,” responded Shannon.

“Well, you can just forget it! He’s mine, and you can’t have him!” yelled Jennifer.

“What are you guys yelling about!” said Lisa, as she stepped into the room.

“Nothing, mom, we’re just watching Pirates of the Caribbean,” replied Michelle.

Jennifer and Lisa walked out of the room, and Michelle and Shannon discussed some stuff. They talked about almost everything a girl could say to her best friend, and since none of the information they exchanged is important to this book, I decided not to include their conversation.

Hours past until the 9:00 PM bell rang, which was the time when Lisa could finally rest. Since they had nothing better to do, Michelle and Shannon decided to go outside and wait for Heather. When they arrived outside, Michelle asked, “Do you think the ghost will come out tonight?”

“I don’t know! Maybe we should check the clubhouse to see if the ghost is in there,” answered Shannon, who seemed to keep a silencing tone in her voice.

Both of the girls proceeded towards the tree house completely unaware of the danger within it. As they climbed the ladder, they felt the same chill in their bodies like the last night.

“Michelle, do you feel cold?” asked Shannon.

“Yeah, I do! I think we might be in the presence of the ghost,” replied Michelle. Both of the girls seemed to keep their voices in a whisper.

As they reached the top of the tree house, they saw nothing and felt nothing, which was a little bit eerie. Just then, the ghost appeared in a flash of light. It was the most magnificent scene anybody could see, but the ghost had a sword in his hand. He took the sword with both hands, and swung it towards Shannon in a display of angriness and loneliness combined.

Shannon, of course, fell backward with the speed and agility of Jack’s hit. Then, as Shannon was about to get up, Jack swung the sword yet again. However, this time, Michelle grabbed the sword and tried to gain full possession of it. Michelle began to say, “Jack, why do you want to kill us?”

“Well, because you two numskulls keep on interrupting me when I am in deep prayer, and I believe that God would want you dead for that type of offense!” yelled Jack, who seemed to be dominating Michelle with the sword.

“Um, Michelle…” said Shannon, as Michelle interrupted her.

“But, Jack, you never told us to not interrupt your prayer! How can we obey your law if it was never stated?” interrupted Michelle.

“Are you Catholic?” asked Jack.

“What did you say?” replied Michelle.

“I said are you Catholic?” repeated Jack, who became much more annoyed than the first time he said it.

“Yes, I’m Catholic, but what does that have to do with your law?” said Michelle.

“Michelle…” said Shannon, as she was sitting on the floor.

“Well, a Catholic is supposed to know that they are never to interrupt someone when they are in deep prayer! And you just broke the law, so I will have to kill you!” answered Jack.

“Michelle, my leg is bleeding!” yelled Shannon, with all her might. Luckily, Michelle heard her shouting, which was an excellent chance for Jack to permanently destroy Michelle and Shannon.

Suddenly, without any warning at all, another transparent creature appeared above Michelle and Shannon. The creature came into the scene with spectacular light, which would amaze anybody who came outside at that very moment.
