Chapter Ten

“Where are we now?” asked Shannon.

“We’re in the clubhouse! We better get out,” replied Michelle.

Michelle and Shannon climbed down the ladder. Then, Heather, who seemed angry, confronted them. She said, “Where were you?”

“We were in magical court, and we met an angel who was an attorney!” said Shannon.

“And, believe it or not, it was all real!” interrupted Michelle.

“Okay, show me then!” exclaimed Heather, who was jealous because all of these wonderful things were happening, and she was not a part of it.

“Okay, follow us into the clubhouse,” said Michelle.

All of a sudden, the angel appeared behind Heather. It said, “Might I save you the trouble?”

Her voice was so eerie that it almost scared Heather half to death. Heather turned around to find a transparent angel in her presence.

“Hello,” said the angel, in a cheerful tone. Even a simple hello could have knocked any person out at that moment. In this moment, however, only Heather was knocked out.

“Heather… Heather… Are you alright?” said Michelle, as Heather became conscious every minute or so.

“What? Where am I?” asked Heather, as she became conscious enough to speak.

“You are in Michelle’s backyard, after you fainted from seeing the angel. Are you alright?” replied Shannon.

“Angel? What angel?” asked Heather.

“I’m the angel you speak of. Sorry I made you faint! I have never met any human who was so scared of me, besides the two women that I told that Jesus had been raised from the dead a few thousand years ago,” replied the angel.

Heather could not say anything because she was still in shock after seeing the angel. She was so confused and horrified of her experience so far in Michelle’s backyard. After about one minute, Michelle and Shannon finally got Heather up off the ground, and Heather finally became fully conscious of everything around her.

“Thanks, Michelle,” said Heather, “I truly know that you are telling the truth! Moreover, what is the deal with the angel? I thought you said it was a ghost.”

“Well, the ghost is in the magical courtroom. He is probably still searching for us since we lost the trial and are being hunted right now,” replied Michelle.

“Hunted?” questioned Heather.

“Yeah, we are being hunted because the judge sentenced us to death after Michelle and I broke the second commandment,” answered Shannon.

“Third commandment,” corrected Michelle.

“Right, thanks Michelle!” replied Shannon.

“But, humans, you can still defeat the ghosts before they get you!” exclaimed the angel.

“How?” asked Michelle.

“With the red jewel that has a power like no other crystal in America,” answered the angel.

“Where can we find it?” asked Shannon.

“The jewel was hidden almost 150 years ago by a secret society called A.O.D.,” responded the angel.

“What does A.O.D. mean?” asked Heather, who seemed to be understanding of all of this.

“It was a group called Angels of Death, who collected every piece of weaponry they could find, so they could fight battles between the devil and them. However, of course, the only weapon that they possessed was the red jewel, so, since they did not want the devil to find it, they built an entire scavenger hunt to find it. They gave clues to each of the A.O.D members, but, unfortunately, only one clue remains,” said the angel, who handed them a piece of paper. The piece of paper contained:

Underneath the mistletoe,

Lay an object that you should know.

When, in fact, it was real,

It used to always appeal:

Find the little tree of cocoa.

“So, the red jewel is near the little tree of cocoa? How are we supposed to find one little tree in America?” asked Shannon.

“It does give us the precise location of the tree, but it is hidden within the riddle,” replied Michelle.

“Riddle, what the heck is a riddle?” asked Heather.

“A riddle is a puzzle in the form of a question that contains clues to its answer. Does that clear it up for you?” replied Shannon.

“Yeah, it does! Thanks, Shannon,” said Heather.

“No problem,” said Shannon. Michelle, apparently, seemed to be reading the piece of paper carefully.

“Hello, we still have a riddle to solve!” said Michelle. “I believe that the tree is in the wooden cabin that Shannon and I found in a forest.”

“Why do you believe that?” asked Heather, in an arrogant tone of voice.

“Well, it did have a cocoa tree in the cabin, and, possibly, it could have contained mistletoe, too,” stated Michelle.

“Was the cabin in a forest with strange, unearthly creatures?” questioned the angel.

“Yeah, why do you need to know?” answered Michelle.

“Well, the forest is supposed to hold the most deadly creatures known to humans and supernatural creatures,” said the angel.

“What’s so deadly about that forest, anyway? When Michelle and I went into the forest, nothing happened. Well, except for the dog-bird and the bear, but that is all!” exclaimed Shannon.

“Dog-bird?” asked Heather.

“Oh, it was some type of bird that we saw that looked like a dog but flew like a bird. So, I just named it: dog-bird,” answered Shannon.

“Well, you humans must have been their while some of the creatures were asleep because there are many more creatures that are in the forest. Some of the creatures, however, are guarded by the A.O.D., but, as you know, only one member remains. Therefore, all the creatures run rapid around the forest, waiting for their next meal,” explained the angel.

“Well, then let’s just go and hope we don’t get eaten,” said Michelle, who became a little annoyed.

Therefore, since they were with an angel, they appeared in the forest in no time flat, but unfortunately, no one knew of the horror that could possibly happen to them.
